Clinical Medical Assistant

Holders of the digital certificate and badge from Cleveland State University's Clinical Medical Assistant training have the following competencies:

  5. EKG Proficiency: Applying knowledge of cardiac physiology to perform and interpret EKGs and identify common dysrhythmias.

  6. Specimen Collection: Safely and accurately performing phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures.

  7. Medical Office Operations: Managing tasks related to patient encounters, including documentation, patient preparation, and quality care maintenance.

  8. Healthcare for Special Populations: Providing care with consideration for pediatric and geriatric patients.

  9. Ethical and Legal Compliance: Navigating common legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in clinical settings.

  10. Professional Communication: Effectively communicating within the healthcare setting, including verbal, nonverbal, and written forms.

To receive the digital certificate/badge in Clinical Medical Assistance, holders of the badge have completed all assessments at 80% or above.
